Geesh where do I start? Hmmm......?

My Elena was pregnant and let's just say her poor morning sickness lasted the whole 9 weeks. My sporty happy go lucky girl was miserable. Very clingy to me, and I had to hand feed her every bite the whole pregnancy. (I would do it again in a heartbeat). The Poor thing only gained 2 pounds and was carrying 6 babies. The typical weight gain for a cavalier is a pound per puppy to put into perspective.

The day was LONG! I had driven 7 hours to Seattle to pick up my new girl Elektra who flew in from Germany. While Elena is at the vet for labor watch at me Repro vets' office. I received a call around 4:00 that they were thinking a C section might be the best option for her. I decided to go for it. Mind you I am still a few hours away from her and in a car. We prayed for Elena and her babies and patiently waited for the next call. around 5:40 the call came in, 6 Healthy puppies!!

She had 3 girls, 1 Blenheim and 2 tris, then 3 boys 1 Blenheim and 2 tris :). All at a good weight, which was surprising to us all.

The weight was lifted off my shoulders, everyone healthy including my wonderful Elena. But then the real fun begins. For the next 72 hours don't expect much sleep. I felt like a zombie, no sleep the night she was in labor, no sleep the next night when brand new C section babies born, then on next day I semi start to feel normal again, If you think breeding is easy, let me tell you it is not.

Elena is starting to eat better, but I am still hand feeding her. You may say stop doing that, well the babies are more important and this way I know she is eating. Trust me I have tried not to. Then I cave, and she slowly eats out of my hand.

I spend most of my time in the room with her for the first week or so. That means the rest of my household chores, get put on the back burner. Don't get me wrong, I still do things, just not as well. Priorities to the babies and the mom come first. Luckily, I have an amazing Husband and wonderful Son who help me who are very helpful and respect that this time is crucial.

So hear I am on day 3, writing this to you. I hope you have enjoyed this post and come back again :)

Please take a look and the precious babies . If interested in one of my puppies or future puppies please fill out my questionnaire page.
